Missouri American Water has filed a rate request with the Missouri Public Service Commission to raise water rates by 27.79 percent for the typical residential customer in Platte County, according to a press release from the company. For the average customer using 8,000 gallons of water per month, the rate increase would mean your bill would increase $15.36 per month or $184.32 per year, according to the press release. The rate increase would also mean an increase of $13.01 per month for the 105 customers who use Missouri American Water’s wastewater system. Missouri American Water stated in the press release it is requesting the rate increase because of approximately $2.2 million in investments it has completed or plans to complete in Platte County from Oct. 1, 2008, to April 30, 2010.
