Riverside is set to take another digital leap in 2010.

During a special meeting Dec. 22, the Riverside Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to approve a $3,381,000 contract with Motorola to convert the city’s public safety radio system from analog to digital signal to allow the city to tap into the new regional network already under way in Kansas City.

Board votes 4-1 to enter into contract negotiations for digital radio system

After a 4-1 vote Nov. 17, Riverside Public Safety was given the go ahead from the Board of Aldermen to enter into contract negotiations with the Kansas City Police Department and Motorola for the construction of a digital radio system.

Riverside is still searching for a new city attorney after dismissing John McClelland of Armstrong and Teasdale in August, but the city is now looking into switching to an in-house city attorney to handle its legal needs.
